This month, I have had to pull out my warm sweaters and begin each morning by stoking the fire in my studio. Winter has come back in all its glory, and despite the bitter temperatures and mounds of snow that are all part of our Minnesota winters, there is a quiet and cozy charm to it that lends itself well to afternoons at my sewing machine. Last weeks snowfall has definitely got us thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tom has already started playing Christmas Carols… which is putting me in a mind to start baking Christmas cookies. I think it is just about time to pull out “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” for the “kids”. I can hear already hear Yukon Cornelius singing “Silver and Gold”…. which gives me an idea for this months special. New and Upcoming Patterns!
Our Marie Antoinette Zone-Front Gown is now available. this dramatic gown dates back to the 1780s and comes in both the American Girl and A Girl for All Time sizes. If you like the look of the gown on the cover, we have a limited number of kits available in our Etsy shop. Thimbles and Acorns has two more dresses on the drawing board. The simple beauty or our Chemise a la Reine, another Marie Antoinette inspired dress, caused quite a scandal in the day. Still, it caught on, and set the course of fashion during the Regency period. The second dress is a taste of what is to come as we look towards beginning our Victorian series. This dress will complete this first set of Laura Ingalls Wilder reproductions. It is set to be released in January during one of Pixie Faire’s Freebie Fridays as my special gift to you as we celebrate Thimbles and Acorns third anniversary. Another auction for Sew Powerful! The Underpinnings featured on our pattern Cover for American Girl
Do you recognize this pattern? It is Keepers Dolly Duds Designs Caroler’s Coat and it will be available soon for A Girl for All Time dolls! Look for it soon.

Oh, I’m so excited you are going to do a Chemise a la Reine! I had hoped to one day get to make one for my dolls. Thank you so much for doing this style of dress before finishing out your 1700s dresses.
I have been having a difficult time finding 1/8 inch twill tape. Do you have a source for this? I do not want to use ribbon.
Thank you for your help.
I actually have the 1/8-inch ribbon in stock… just need to get it listed.
