I dress dolls for my local chapter of the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Shop. Every year we give away 600 – 700 dressed Springfield dolls to area children. To make the project a bit more fun for the doll dressers we add an element of competition by judging the dolls in six or seven theme categories.
I have used your 1860’s Day Dress and your Laura and Mary patterns for our “Old Fashioned or Yesterday’s Little Girl” .
For the “Bridal” category, I adapted the “Bib Front Regency Dress”.
The patterns used by Penny are Thimbles and Acorns #1810-01 “Bib Front Regency Dress”, Thimbles and Acorns #1860-01 “Civil War Era Day Dress”, and Thimbles and Acorns #1880-01 “Mary and Laura”.
Gorgeous workmanship. Penny has received many top ribbons for her doll clothes over the years.
Penny, your skill at the sewing machine and with the doll clothes has inspired me to improve my own skills. Your charitable heart is also my inspiration. A great combination.
These are really lovely, Penny. I am always in awe at your sewing.
