May is a time of transition here in Minnesota.  I don’t know if I would call it a beautiful month since all the leaves and vegetation have yet to grow enough to cover all the mud and litter exposed by the melting snow, but it is a time of promise and that holds a certain beauty in itself.

When Cinnamon asked to use my Freezer Paper Buttonhole tutorial on Sewing With Cinnamon & Friends this month, Tom, my wonderful husband and business partner, decided we should

turn it into a video. We have been talking about doing videos for a couple of years now, but I have never been able to put my bravery on to do it ~ until now. If you like this video, consider

becoming a member of Sewing with Cinnamon & Friends, where you can learn lots of insightful tips, techniques, and tricks-of-the-trade used by Cinnamon and the designers at Pixie Faire ~ not to mention all sorts of special member rewards!  Join now, enrollment closes on May 31st and won’t open again until September.

Historical Doll Fashion Group

We all love dolls and sewing for various reasons, but for me, it is all about history!  If you love historical doll fashion too, consider joining a new group on Facebook called Historical costuming for modern dolls that is being organized by Olga Watkin.  Here, you can join in conversations about history and fashion, share your own creations and links to favorite museums, patterns, and anything else related to the history of fashion.

To join, search for  Historical costuming for modern dolls in Facebook and become a part of this wonderful group!

Congratulations!

To Michele P for winning the Union Suit and to Mary M, Robin G, and Duana G,  for wining the Hunting Frock Supply Kits from last months newsletter!

Thank you! I’m so excited to be getting the Hunting Frock Supply Kit! I can’t wait to get to work on it – This pattern is so different from what I usually make (trendy and dressy things) it’ll be so interesting!

well, not having any success leaving a comment on You Tube, but a picture or video is worth a thousand words! I read through your directions, but it’s much easier to grasp by watching. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for letting us know that Hearts for Hearts dolls will have separate patterns. Sometimes it isn’t always clear if they share the pattern with Wellies or not on Pixie Faire. I just recently got my Hearts for Hearts dolls and am still trying to figure out what to make.

Thank you so much!! I’m very excited to have won the Union Suit! It will be a wonderful start for my Pioneer Girl wardrobe, and I’m looking forward to making all of the Thimbles and Acorns patterns in her era:)

I enjoyed the video on you tube about making button using freeze for placement of the button holes. I will be trying this the next time I make button holes. Thank you for the video.

Not sure what the issue is with the commenting, but I will be sure to include comments from this post in the drawing in case others are having the same problem. 🙂

My daughter’s loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder books growing up and now they each have a daughter of their own. I can’t wait to order the Union Suit and Long Winter patterns. I already have the dresses patterns. I just love your patterns!

I love, love, love your patterns! I am preparing to sew my first outfit from one of your patterns, but I am so impressed especially by your attention to detail in creating the Little House on the Prairie dresses. I have written an article, “Little House on the Prairie Dolls” for Doll Castle News which will be published in a two part series in the Jan/Feb 2018 and March/April 2018 issues of DCN. I am reviewing your Mary, Laura, and Carrie patterns in the second half of the article. Be sure to check out Doll Castle News’ Facebook page and http://www.dollcastlemagazine.com to learn more about the magazine. I have pattern #1880-02 but would love to have a copy of pattern #1880-01 so that I can outfit Mary and Laura as well as Carrie.
