The Kalasaris was a standard style dress worn by Ancient Egyptian women. No original dresses exist, so the construction and design of this pattern is based on pictures from ancient wall art and other historical construction techniques. While this dress makes a beautiful ancient reproduction, the timelessness of the pattern makes a sweet modern sundress as well.
The dress is made from a simple rectangle of fabric with two fabric straps that tie in the back with fabric loops to hold them in place. Its simplicity makes it an excellent pattern for beginning seamstresses.
